Every day millions of people enter the artificially-lit labyrinth of the London Underground; a world in flux where everything is moving or in anticipation of motion. Tides of people, indistinguishable from each other, sweep you onwards. We learn nothing about them, so they are fleeting silhouettes on the journey. The system is a shadow-world which barely seems related to the city above.
Using multiple-exposures the photographer captures ghosts of the human form, fleeting shadows, combined with the environment of the London Underground. Sharp resolution and accuracy lose their importance, with the chemical process of rough shadows forming on gelatine negatives echoing the feel of the location.
